The Moretti Sportiva is a special built coupé produced by Moretti, based on Fiat 850, from 1967 to 1971.
History
Presented in 1967, the "Sportiva" Moretti fast back coupe was a rear engine sports car designed for a clientele accustomed to choosing the trim according to their taste. This method of realization, unthinkable for mass production, survived in the twenty years following the second post-war period, to definitively disappear in the late 1970s. From the 1960s, freed from the burden of designing and manufacturing all the mechanical parts of its cars, the Moretti company presented an impressive series of models based on Alfa Romeo, Maserati and Fiat, always with the same concern for quality of its finishes and interior fittings. Most of these models received the signature of the famous Italian designer Giovanni Michelotti, who signed more than thirty bodies.
The "Sportiva" SS was initially proposed in the "S2" type (two seats), both in the "Coupé" version and in the "Transformable “with large canvas sunroof also T top.The body a self-supporting metal body in boxed steel sheet other models as a normal coupe and 4 door berlina. the car featured independent suspension and anti-roll bars front and rear, with fully synchromesh 4 speed gearbox. For power 1 Weber 30 ICF-2 or Solex C30 PIB-4 downdraught single barrel carburettor with front disc brakes for stopping power.
There were numerous variants to allow customers to customize the car and, in addition to the usual choice of colours and fabrics for the interiors, they contemplated the possibility of obtaining finishes and equipment of great prestige for the time, such as electrically operated windows, painting metallic or Borrani spoked rims. It was also possible to mount a special engine with a displacement increased to 982 cm³.

Given the aerodynamic profiling, it was necessary to place the spare wheel horizontally in the front compartment, occupying it entirely and forcing the designers to create a compartment for luggage, closed by a stretched sheet, between the seats and the engine compartment. The lack of rear seats was unwelcome by buyers and, the following year, Moretti presented the "S4" type which provided for the 2 + 2 arrangement, at the time of possible homologation. Only Around 300 "Sportiva" models were produced in the various productions.
