The 2600 Boneschi roadster was a concept car study built in 1963 by Boneschi for Alfa Romeo in Italy.

History

With theAlfa 2600 chassis and the 2.6 litre straight six of the standard model meant high performance, to complement the flat line American styling body lines. The normal spyder 2+2 by Touring, carried over from the 1958-61 2000 spyder, was attractive in Its own right and harmonized with the rest of the Alfa range. In 1963 Carrozzeria Boneschi unveiled a new roadster with noticeable 1960s, American styling with larg grill and cut off rear arches.

Although Boneschi had been in Milan since 1919, its work was not well-known, and it was a little-known coachbuilder that specialised in luxury limos before focusing on commercial vehicle bodies plus novelty advertising vehicles after WWII. However, in the 1960s, it experimented with an automobile body style that prioritised straight lines over earlier curving forms, as evidenced by the 2600 model. The base was the short-chassis 2600 used for Touring's spyder, with quad headlights inspired by Bertone's 2600 Sprint coupe. There was little else that resembled Alfa Romeo or the contemporaneous 'Italian school,' such as the body overhang or nose treatment just that 60s big American look.
