The Bizzarrini 1900GT Europa was an Italian sports car from the 1960s.

History

In 1966 a smaller displacement sports car was presented, the Bizzarrini GT Europa equipped with the 1700 cm³ Opel Rekord engine, this model, built in collaboration with General Motors on the Opel 1900 project, which also gave birth to its sister Opel GT.

1900 Europa is the kind Of Opel GT that GM should have built in the first place. Giotto Bizzarrini's 327-engined GT and just as the Opel GT is a sort of scaled-down Stingray, the GT 1900 is a scaled-down GT 5300—and thus a more purposeful Italian version of the Opel GT. Unlike the Opel GT, which is pretty much a juggling of Kadett sedan components. the Bizzarrini resembles a racing GT car, with independent suspension and disc brakes all around, alloy wheels, and oversize tires at the back. Despite having a wheelbase 9 in. shorter than the Opel GT and a height reduction Of more than 7 in, the Bizzarrini is not notably lighter at a curb weight Of 1900 1b, compared to the Opel's 2100. This shows up in a positive way in the tightness and insulation of the body as well as in detail quality.

Bizzarrini 1900GT Europa Maintenance and Service Guide (1966-1969)

Sometime after. At the Opel project, GM decided to distance itself from the Italian company by entrusting the project to the Chausson and Brissoneau & Lotz body shops, so the collaboration remained only in sharing the floor, but the two cars were produced independently and with very different life and production times.

The GT EUROPE 1900 was born maintaining all Important technical Characteristics of her big sister: Aerodynamic steamliné body. tested in the wind tunnel at Pisa University engine in central anterior position allowing perfect weight distribution roll bar inserted in car roof double circuit Campagnolo disc brakes Dunlop SP tires with varying cross sections. large in the rear to make the most of power and narrower in the front to allow easy steering.Campagnolo electron wheels body in fiberglass of differentiated structure excellent vision in
all directions selfblocking differential safety belts .Optionally the car may be Supplied with fully automatic windows and leather upholstery.

Bizzarrini decided to independently carry out his own project which was definitively called Bizzarrini 1900 GT Europe and was produced in 17 units, without a real series production, in fact the cars produced were mostly prototypes that had different characteristics from each other with rack-and-pinion steering, independent front and rear suspension with front anti-bar, a limited slip differential and four-wheel disc brakes and Optional 5-speed mechanical gearbox. Some were fitted with 4-cylinder 1600 cm³ engines, others 1900 cm³ from various car manufacturers such as Alfa Romeo, Fiat and General Motors with cast iron cylinder head and block.
