Perry Automotive Developments ferrari kit car

Perry Automotive Developments Built at Morses Lane Trading Estate, Brightlingsea, Essex UK. They built cars and kit cars in the 1980s.

History

The car called the Karma,was manufactured for some years by Custom Classics of California, is a slightly smaller version of the Ferrari Dino 246 and is a professionally engineered kit-form sports car,imaginatively engineered and practical sports car kit .Perry Automotive Developments built from 1982 to 1984,then later as Automotive Design & Development in Essex with links later to Ferrante and Trident in Peterborough UK and as RW Kit Cars Ltd in Melton Mowbray also in the UK that made the Karma kit up untill 2000.

With a fibreglass body replica of the Ferrari Dino. The body bolts directly onto an unaltered VW Beetle chassis, making the build-up a straightforward and simple operation. Using the VW Beetle as its mechanical basis and a range of powerplants stretching from the 1200cc VW flat 4 to a full mid-engine 7-litre Chevy motor. The kit also offers a fully weather-proofed body with wind-up windows,through-flow ventilation, sound proofing and a 16 cu. ft. rear luggage compartment.

The car is available in three stages of build. The first costing £1395 plus VAT supplies you with a very comprehensive assembly manual,the main body section finished in one of five standard colours complete with ready-fitted doors, locks, windows, winding mechanisms, windscreen, all body panels and bumpers.

Stage two,costing £1895 plus VAT comprises all the above plus a set of alloy wheels, Dunlop radial tyres, high back seats with adjustable runnersand all lights and indicators supplied and fitted.

Finally, the stage three priced at a more expensive £2595 plus VAT includes the wiring loom,instrumentation and switches ready fitted, a steering wheel, sound proofing kit, spare wheel and tyre, fitted door mirrors, a carpet set for cockpit, front and rear luggage areas, mirror, wiper assembly, etc, In fact everything you'll need bar the chassis.

All the kits Perry Automotive offer all the above parts as optional extras to complete lower stage kits, a chassis renovation and preparation service and fully built cars will be available from £4350 upwards,depending upon spec.

Tuned VW motors, rear-mounted water cooled engines and mid-mounted VW lumps are also included on the chassis options list.
