The Dodge Coronet Sixth generation car, was built in the 1970s from 1971 to 1974.

History

The new Coronet the same as of the four-door Plymouth Satellite , but had a smoother design. It existed only as a sedan and station wagon, with the related and also revised Charger coupe. The 6 cylinder 225 cu in (3.7 L) Straight 6 with 145 hp came standard for Coronet ,and all Coronet Custom Series except 9-passenger Station Wagon model; not available for other Series. For 1971 the Coronet fuel tank capacity was 17.4 imp gallons. Optional Accessories Torqueflite automatic gearbox with 3 ratios (1st 2.450, 2nd 1.450. 3rd 1, rev 2.00),2.930 axle ratio a  limited slip final drive and power-assisted steering; servo brake; front disc with servo and air-conditioning system.

The 318 cu in (5.2 L) 318 LA V8engine with 230 hp was also Sandard for the Coronet and Coronet Custom as well as the Coronet Brougham and Crestwood Series. The 383 cu in (6.3 L) B "Magnum" V8 engine came with V8 275 hp was optional for Coronet and Coronet Custom as well as the Coronet Brougham and Coronet Crestwood Series. A 383 cu V8 with 300 hp also optional for the Coronet aswell as later the 400 and 440 cu in.

By 1972 revisions of the front grille, headlamps and taillights . From that point on, sales dropped sharply this is attributed to both the oil crisis and the merging of the Dodge and Plymouth models and equality compared to the other models of the Chrysler Group.

In 1973 and 1974 Dodge introduced the TorsionQuiet system, which included additional mufflers and rubber mounts for better ride comfort and lower noise inside the car .In addition to interior trim changes and front grille, headlamps, also the rear taillights. For 1973 The front and rear  were again redesigned for the improvments to crash tests of the mid 1970s.
