The Ford Excursion is a full-size SUV of the US automaker Ford, which was manufactured from early 2000 to mid-2006.

The excursion is one of the largest vehicles on American roads and the largest off-road vehicle in the world. It is based on the heavy-duty versions of the Ford F-Series and was available with rear-wheel or (even while driving) switchable four- wheel drive. The four-wheel version has rigid axles front and rear.

Ford Excursion Service Guide (2000-2006)

Despite its all-wheel drive technology, the big SUV does not match the off-road characteristics of its competitors Chevrolet Suburban and Hummer H1.

In the spring of 2004, the excursion was slightly revised, which mainly concerned front (more chrome on the grille) and rear (changed lights).

As a result of a lack of demand, Ford discontinued the series in May 2006, with sales down more than 60% in the previous year basic model as the XL XLT and Linited as the top tree version with power seats and improved audio system.

Ford Excursion specifications (2000-2006)

In the place of the excursion occurs since the model year 2007 by 40 cm extended derived from the Ford F-150 variant of the Ford Expedition with the additional name EL.

There were four engines to choose from: a 5.4-liter V8 with 255 hp, a 6.8-liter V10 with 314 hp, a 6-liter V8 diesel with 325 hp and a 7.3-liter V8 turbo diesel with 275 hp (from 2004 290 hp).
