Paint Streaking problems

 Paint Streaking problems

This section includes Paint Streaking problems lapping marks.To Repair While film is still wet, recoat with thin mist coat to eliminate streaky appearance in metallic colours. Allow to dry completely and recoat.


Cause

  • Distorted spray pattern. Spray gun dirty or needing repair.
  • Poor spraying tcchnique, Insufficient overlap when spraying.
  • Spraying metallic colours too wet.
  • Spraying any colour too dry.
  • Colour insufficicntly thinned.
  • Use of wrong thinner.
  • Metal too hot or too cold.


Prevention
1. Check spray patern each time before starting job.
2. If not uniform, clean spray gun thoroughly
3. If pattern is still distorted make neccssary repairs to spray gun.
4. Use correct spray tcchnique, with sufficient overlapping of strokes.
5. Be sure colour is thinned with the proper amount and type of thinner.
6. Allow metal to come to normal room tempcrature bcfore spraying.
