The Rinspeed R69 is a sports car based on the Porsche 911 of the Swiss company Rinspeed.
History
The aggressive R69 a flamboyant Porsche 911 car from Switzerland, company of Rinspeed. Based in Zurich, Rinspeed have been Switzerland's leading turbocharging specialist since 1977 when it began fitting turbos to the German VW Golf Mk1s later to specialise in Porsche. The First Porsche was the Rinspeed Porsche 939 Targa at the Geneva Motor Show in 1983. But offering body and mechanical conversions for all models, especially the 911.
In 1985 the RINSPEED R69 based on the Porsche 911 in standard or Turbo form with inspiration of the Ferrari Testarossa built in all versions from 911 SC and Carrera, 911 Turbo, or convertible, coupe or Targa body types. The R69 Turbo, uses a mechanically unaltered 911 as its basis. Improvements to performance with engine tuning giving +60 hp, to the body is added an extrovert body styling kits such as the one consisting of a flat sloping nose with recessed lights, and Ferrari Testarossa-style doors and side skirts with huge air intakes popular from the time. Finally, a glass-fibre rear end is grafted onto the back of the car, incorporating a large lip spoiler and Porsche 924 rear lamps in place of the regular 911 ones some panels also made of Kevlar and new full paint finish. A more sumptuous leather interior is also added for that exclusive and expensive look. The range was later updated with a less aggressive looking R89 .
