Universal Products is a South African manufacturer of replica automobiles.
History
The company was founded in 1999 in Kempton Park. Initially, various fiberglass products and pendants were produced. These included bodies for racing cars. Later began the production of racing cars. Road vehicles followed marketed as Universal.
The company for the first time in 2007 produces replicas of the race car Lola T 70. The brand name is DAW. One source indicates that the production was taken over by a company called DAW. Since 2008, the company has named replicas of road sports cars. Their brand name is Universal.
First, it was the Porsche 356 as Speedster and in a Porsche 718. In addition, there is a vehicle in the style of the Lotus Seven called Millennium 7 in the offer, which was designed by Chris Carstens and Kobus van der Walt. In June 2016, the offer consisted of DAW T 70 Mk. III B, DAW T 70 Mk II Spyder, 356 Speedster, 356 Coupe, 550 Spyder, RSK 718 Spyder, Millennium 7 and the VW Buggy Salamander.

The Body is bonded onto a Steel tubular sub frame that improves safety and increase torsion rigidity of the vehicle Inspired by the Porsche 356 the 550-replica recreation is Beetle Based a tubular chassis with a mid-mounted air-cooled engine following the footsteps of the original vehicle.
The Universal CJ7 developed to fit any 4×2 or 4×4 bakkie. The TUB is manufactured from GMP resin and has a steel mounting frame in order for it to be easily adapted to fit a wide range of donor vehicles.
