Visually revised the front of the RSX now had an enlarged radiator grille. The headlights, taillights and the rear apron were also redesigned. Wind noise from the mirrors was reduced by filling in the gaps in the mirror triangle.

The sportier equipment variant of the RSX, the Type-S, also has a 2.0-liter DOHC 16-V engine, which in contrast to the less powerful variant initially 149 kW (200 hp), later 157 kW (210 hp) and was only available with a 6-speed manual transmission.
