AC company in 1930 they let production continue at a minimal level, while deciding whether to continue as a manufacturer. company's major asset was its old straight six engine designed by John Weller in 1919 and the decision to introduce cars through the 1930s (less than 150 a year on average) and major components were bought in. They continued their 16/56 and 16/66 models AC built their oven coachwork at Thames Ditton, and produced a very individual range of bodies, ranging through open, drophead and closed 2-seaters to two and four-door coupés, convertibles and saloons, . The €450 Sports Four-seater had a 1 990-cc (65 x 100 mm) three-carburettor 66-bhp OHC engine. . Wheelbase was 9 ft 7 in, tyre size 5.00-19. A box-section underslung chassis was used with body frames in ash, and there was leaf-spring suspension at both ends (when such an arrangement at the front was archaic). 'The last of the "old-engine" cars (an Ace) gave way to the 16/56 and 16/66 in 1933 (single-or triple carburettor engines leading to the designations) with a small production still built up to 1938 post war.
Seven styles Variations of the basic specification were confined to wheelbase and track beyond that costumers were offered many options. AC listed seven body styles: three saloons, two-and four-seater roadsters, a sports soft-top and a sports saloon. cars were developed as the 16/60 and 16/70 for the second half of the 1930s. In the 1935 Monte Carlo Rally three AC cars entered and all finished, including Miss M. Allen, the first British woman competitor in the rally, who drove an AC from Umea in Sweden.
