The Lincoln Blackwood was the world's first luxury-class pickup truck. However, with limited production it was sold due to the lack of sales only in the model year 2002.

Despite its poor performance in the US auto market, Cadillac introduced the Escalade EXT as competitors just months after Blackwood's launch. Unlike the Blackwood, the Cadillac EXT sold much better. By 2005 model year, Lincoln now introduced the Mark LT as successor to the Blackwood pickup truck and competitor for the popular Cadillac Escalade EXT. The Mark LT has become the most popular upper-class pick-up truck and has now relegated its only competitor, the Cadillac Escalade EXT.

The vehicle was designed by Patrick Schiavone.
