The Chevrolet Lumina 2nd generation was first made in 1994 for the American and canadian markets.
History
The Lumina was entirely redesigned in autumn 1994, with a revamped interior, but it still used the first-generation chassis. It was simply the sedan, as the Lumina Coupe has been renamed in Monte Carlo. The V6 engine with the engine code LH0 has been replaced with the L82 V6 engine, also known as the 3100 SFI. After the Chevrolet Caprice was phased out of production in 1996, this model created specific versions for police and taxi firms.
A sportier variant of the vehicle (Lumina LTZ) came on the market in early 1997 to replace the models Impala SS and Caprice . The version had sports wheels (similar to the style of the Impala SS) 16" brushed aluminum, the 3.4-liter V6 engine (which was available as an option from 1997), a tachometer, and electrically adjustable seats with sport tuned suspension. The 3.4-liter V6 engine was replaced with the 3800 Series II engine in 1998, and the airbags were also improved at about the same time.
Sales of the Lumina ended in Canada in 1999,On April 26, 2001, General Motors ceased production in the United States. Sales of the Lumina was no longer profitable enough by Chevrolet. In autumn 1999, the model came Chevrolet Impala back on the market, which - now with front wheel drive - as the successor to the Chevrolet Lumina was from the same year for fleet operation with police and taxi packages .
In some Asian countries, production of the Lumina continued and it was sold as Buick Century / Regal. In Latin America, the Lumina was offered under the name Chevrolet Omega. As of 1998, a new Lumina model was offered in markets in the Middle East and South Africa. This is a sister model of the Holden Commodore VT / VX / VY / VZ (Lumina Sedan) and Holden Monaro (Lumina Coupe) and was made up to 2006 with this in Australia. In the Middle East, the sale of the Holden-Commodore-based Chevrolet Lumina ran until 2017. In the Philippines, between 2005 and 2008, a renamed version of the Buick Regal was sold as Chevrolet Lumina. Also the generation of the Holden Commodore (VE) produced from 2006 to 2013 was sold as Chevrolet Lumina. In South Africa, was even the Holden Ute as Lumina Ute offered, but only the top model Lumina SS or Lumina Ute SS .In 2013, sales were discontinued in South Africa.
