The Chevrolet Fleetmaster Series DK was a mid-range car manufactured by Chevrolet in 1946 as the flagship model and successor to the pre-war Chevrolet Special Deluxe. In essence, the vehicles also technically and in style matched their pre-war donors. 1947 was called the series 2100EK, 1948 2100 FK.
The cars were equipped with an overhead-line six-cylinder engine of 3,548 cm 3 (66 kW) capacity a power output of 90 bhp at 3300 rpm. A fully synchronized, manual three-speed transmission with steering wheel circuit, the engine power was forwarded to the rear wheels.
The Chevrolet Big-Car ride is due to ifs highly developed front-end suspension. Each wheel is mounted, independent Of the other, on an action coil spring, and controlled by a built-in double-acting shock absorber. Both Knee-Action units, together with the front wheel mountings, brakes and steering connections, are carried On a massive cross member. The whole front end is assembled, then adjusted and aligned, before being attached to the chassis as a unit.
Five body variants were available from the standard series: 2-door convertible and 2-door sports coupe with 5 seats each, two sedans with 2 or 4 doors each with 6 seats and a 5-door station wagon with 8 seats. The station wagon was a " woody", d. H. its structure had an externally visible wooden scaffolding, in which sheets were inserted.
In 1947 there was a slightly different grille. In 1948 this was changed again by inserting a chrome-plated T; in addition, the windows had chromed frames and the type designation Fleetmaster appeared at the rear of the alligator hood on both sides. Fisher Unisteel Turret Top and solid steel underbody. Safety plate glass throughout, Three-passenger adiustable front seat, full width cushion (divided back in two-door sedans and coupes). Provision for heater installation under front seat, two-tone Bedford
cord optional fabric in Fleetmaster.
As with the pre-war models, the Fleetmaster was again a particularly luxurious sub-series with the additional name Fleetline. It consisted of two models: a 4-door Sport Master sedan and a 2-door hatchback sedan called Aerostar. To recognize were the vehicles of this sub-series on the three additional trims behind the front and rear wheel arches.
In 1949, the Deluxe 2100GK series replaced the Fleetmaster. In three years, 1,250,986 copies were created, of which 574,992 Fleetline. The most requested model was the Aerostar.
