The Chrysler laser was produced by the US automaker Chrysler 1983-1986 hatchback sports coupe with front-wheel drive.

The Chrysler laser was based on the shortened platform of the Chrysler K-Cars (Dodge Aries or Plymouth Reliant). He was part of the development project G24 and thus sister model of the Dodge Daytona. While this remained in production until 1993, the laser already accounted for the end of the model year 1986. A corresponding Plymouth model did not exist.

History

For the model year 1984, the Chrysler laser appeared with modern, in profile a little reminiscent of the Porsche 928, body in the versions base (2.2 l four-cylinder) and XE (2.2 l turbo engine). From the Daytona it differed visually only slightly, however, there was no variant corresponding to the Daytona Turbo Z for the laser, and the laser XE possessed an electronic dashboard.

In 1985, the power of the turbo engine was increased to 148 hp. Minor changes related to underbody protection and two new paint colours. For an extra charge, there was an XT package that included front and side skirts, wide tires, boost gauge and sports suspension.

In model year 1986, the XT version was elevated to the status of a stand-alone model. A new addition was the T-Roof with removable roof halves made of tinted glass. At the end of the model year, the laser was removed from the program. As a successor to the Plymouth laser apply, an offshoot of the Mitsubishi Eclipse, since all Chrysler dealers in the US also represented the brand Plymouth.Chrysler acquired the right to use the name Laser from Elite Enterprises. TURBO/ POWER, injection, and high tech are available in 1986 Chrysler Laser Which is in three price ranges Laser, Laser XE, and Laser XT. XT is With added dynamics Components, a oriented suspension and 15" tires. T—bar and Hatback Louvers are options. Manual transmission, power disc brakes and gauges are standard.

The Chrysler Laser produced 147,500 copies in three years.
