The second-generation Concorde debuted with the 1998 model year and featured a modernized, rounder cab-forward design with slightly larger dimensions, a steeply sloping front end with a Ferrari-like oval grille and an increased interior space with Front-wheel drive a full-size car; similar to Chrysler LHS and 300M and Dodge Intrepid.

History

The second-generation Concorde used new light-alloy V6 engines that offered more power than its predecessors, but consumed less: a 2.7-liter engine with a maximum output of 149 kW (200 hp) and a 3.2-liter engine with a maximum power of 168 kW (225 hp). The former was used in the base model LX, the 3.2-liter engine in the Concorde LXi. The engines were coupled again with a four-speed automatic transmission, the LXi with an additional function for manual intervention in the shift program.

In the 1999 model year, there were changes in interior details (in terms of fabrics, covers and carpets). In addition, all models received improved anti-roll bars.

For the model year 2000, the suspension was softened, a sunroof was now available as an optional extra. The LXi has been fitted with a progressive power steering as standard. From 2001 front side airbags were available at an additional cost.

From model year 2002, Concorde Limited replaced the discontinued Chrysler LHS. The LXi now powered the 3.5-liter V6 engine with a maximum output of 175 kW (234 hp) and the Limited a 186 kW (250 hp) version of the same engine.
