History

At the 33rd Tokyo Motor Show, the minivan Daihatsu Atrai 7 was first introduced and from July 2000. The model was an enlarged Daihatsu Atrai to make room for a third row of seats in the rear overhang. Due to the property of now 2 + 2 + 3 = 7 seats This also received this name 7. From October 2000, was also marketed by the parent company Toyota as Toyota Sparky .

For the engine, a 1.3 -liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with initially 66 kW (90 hp), later 68 kW (92 hp) was used, whose power to the rear wheels with 5-speed manual transmission . Optionally, a 4- speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive was available.

Especially for commercial customers, a version with only 5 seats (2 + 3) and extra-large trunk was introduced at the same time as the release of the Toyota Sparky. Initially, the model series was a great success, but increasingly lessened in sales. Therefore, the production of the models was reinstated in 2004. Only four years later, the segment of the popular 7-seater small car base in Japan was used with the Daihatsu Boon Luminas and its sister model Toyota Passo Sette again.
