History

Minibus, box van, and flatbed truck versions are also available. The empty weight ranges from 1840 to 2000 kg. It is available in various Asian nations than Indonesia, but not in Japan. The Toyota TownAce and Toyota LiteAce are badge-engineered versions of Daihatsu's parent company Toyota's models. The Daihatsu Luxio, a minivan, was developed on the basis of the Gran Max.

The Daihatsu Hijet was used to design the Gran Max, however it has a longer wheelbase. The K3-DE 1.3 L petrol engine with 88 horsepower and the KSZ-VE 1.5 L VVT-i petrol engine with 97 horsepower were utilised. A four-speed automatic transmission is available as an option in addition to the five-speed manual transmission. It has a sliding side door and tailgate as a van and minibus. Although all three versions of the cab can accommodate three people, there is a maximum of nine seats available. The tailgate gas springs, door latches, and door handles were changed with the arrival of Toyota models in Japan because they were too small.
