The Daihatsu Atrai 2nd generation models S80V / S81V / S82V / S83V were built from 1986 to 1994.

History

In 1986, a new Atrai model was introduced to the market. The Atrai now had a somewhat now high roof. The Daihatsu Mira's EB two-cylinder engine was now the standard engine. It had a turbocharger once more, but this time with a 5-speed manual transmission instead of a 4-speed. A three-stage automatic transmission was also available once more. To provide extra room for feet, the radiator moved under the bumper's seat. Automatic freewheel hubs were added to the 4WD variant.

The rear window was now installed higher than its predecessor, to smaller windows in the passenger compartment to provide more comfort. In addition to the central glass roof with now electric sun blind now also a glass roof cover over driver and front passenger seat was available.

1980s

From 1987 there was also the all-time 4WD called permanent all-wheel drive with a center differential. In 1988, the headlights were changed and the 4-speed gearbox fell out of the program. The interior was no longer gray, but bicolor brown and blue.In 1989, the front bumper was revised and a new steering wheel was introduced, the body was available with two-tone paint

1990s

In 1990, the EB standard engine was discontinued and was replaced by the EF-ES three-cylinder engine with 660 cc, as EF-GS with automatic transmission and EF-XS / TS (automatic) with turbocharger. In 1991, the Atrai Cruise appeared with contrasting bumpers and special wheels for a lower entry price, which henceforth made up the main sales share. The central sunroof was now an electrically operated glass roof with an electrically driven foil as a sunscreen.
