The Dodge 30 was a Dodge Brothers car built in Detroit , which was presented as a further development of the first model 30-35 in July 1916 as a model for the year 1917.

History

The car had a side-mounted 3479 cc 4-cylinder in-line engine delivering 35 bhp (25.7 kW) of power. This capacity corresponded to 30 tax horsepower , which explains the name Dodge 30. A multi-disc dry clutch (instead of a cone clutch as in the predecessor) and a three-speed gearbox with middle circuit, the rear wheels were driven. The rear wheels were mechanically braked.

The wheelbase of the chassis has been extended from 2794 mm to 2896 mm. For the 4-door Tourer and the 2-door Roadster there were "Rex" versions, with removable roofs (also called winter tops ) and separate plug-in windows of the Rex Manufacturing Co.equipped and thus could be transformed from open wagons in half or completely closed. There was also a 2-door sedan and a 2-door coupe.

In 1918, the model series was further developed without major changes; for the already standard electrical lighting now came an electric starter and a speedometer as a standard feature. 1919 came to other structures, z. B. a 4-door sedan and a taxi with 6 seats.

In 1920, the "Rex" models were discontinued and the windscreen was tilted slightly backwards. For the limousines there was either wire spoked wheels instead of the usual "artillery" -Speichenräder. 1921 came as an extra interior heating. In June 1922, there was a second model of the model year 1922 with elevated radiator (parallel to the built after this time successor).

When the series was replaced by the 116 series, a total of 632,673 copies were created in six years.
