The Fiat 850T was a small commercial vehicle , produced between 1964 and 1976 by the Turin-based carmaker Fiat.

History

The Fiat 850T was a replacement for the Fiat 600T model, using the innovations that had been introduced with the Fiat 850 model on the 100 series engines the 600T used the 767 cm³ engine from the Fiat 600 Multipla .

Fiat had launched the 600T in 1962 , a van derived as an engine and gearbox from the 600 Multipla D 750 cc. The choice was dictated by the success achieved by some van versions made by body shops such as OM , Coriasco and Fissore. With the release of the Fiat 850 as early as May 1964, there was a need to update the 600T's bodywork with some aesthetic modifications ; the 850T version was added to the original 750 cc model using the gearbox and the engine of the new Fiat 850 just presented.

The seven- seat windowed version with a four- light front was called the Fiat 850 Familiare in some markets. The name was chosen to present the model as a family and work version of the Fiat 850 exactly as the Fiat 600 Multipla was for the Fiat 600 .

The displacement was 843 cm³ with a power of 34 hp . In the seventies the car adopted, first on the Family and then also on the 850T, an engine of the same family but with a displacement increased to 903 cm³ (derived from that of the Fiat 127 ) with the same power for the 850T, but raised to 45 hp for the family.

PERFORMANCE

  • engine capacity: 51.44 cu in, 843 cu cm
  • fuel consumption: 37.1 m/imp gal, 30.9 m/US gal, 7.6 1 x 100 km
  • max speed: 63.4 mph, 102 km/h
  • max power (DIN): 34 hp at 4,800 rpm
  • max torque (DIN): 40 1b ft, 5.5 kg m at 3,200 rpm
  • max engine rpm: 5,000
  • specific power: 40.3 hp/l
  • power-weight ratio: 58.4 lb/hp, 26.5 kg/hp
  • acceleration: standing 1/4 mile 28.5 sec, 0—50 mph (0—80 km/h) 32 sec

The bodywork of the new 600T and 850T presented in May 1964 differed from the 600T first series essentially for the front only, now with a rectangular grid in place of the previous hexagonal one, for the lengthening of the cab floor of 5 centimeters and 'adoption of the wheel rims of the Fiat 850 sedan (previously the 600 Multipla were used) and for other details.

A boxed version was also set up with tip-up sides. The 600T remained in production at the OM Suzzara plant until 1969 . The 850T was produced until 1976, when it was replaced by the Fiat 900T .It was also produced in Yugoslavia under license from Zastava .
