The Ford 300 was a passenger car model of the American car manufacturer Ford . The model was produced exclusively in 1963. In 1964, the 300 was replaced by the custom series.

History

The Ford 300 was used as a two- or four-door sedan - limousine and as a two-door hatchback - coupe.The Ford 300 was brought as a savings model of the Ford Galaxy on the market and possessed in contrast to this almost no chrome trim and no luxury equipment. Frequently, the Ford 300s were ordered by the police or taxi companies because they were $ 100 cheaper than the simplest equipped galaxy sedans. The cars were recognized by a "Ford 300" sign on the two front fenders behind the wheel cutouts and "FORD" in small chrome letters on the boot lid (instead of "GALAXY"). Normally there were the vehicles only as 2- or 4-door sedans, on special request but also a hatchback coupe was available.

A special Ford 300 was sold as a two-door sedan by Tasca Motors in Providence, Rhode Island . This had the chrome trim of the Ford Galaxy and XL models and was available with interesting two-tone paint.

The smallest available engine was a six-cylinder in-line engine, which had a displacement of 3654 cc and a maximum of 103 kW (138 bhp) at 4200 / min performed. In addition, there was a 4736 cc V8 engine and 145 kW (195 bhp) at 4400 rpm, and a FE Series Big Block V8 engine called the 427 (which is cubic capacity measured in cubic inches). with 6997 cc displacement and 317 kW (425 bhp) power at 6000 / min was available. In conjunction with a manual transmission, such equipped cars were often used in dragster races because they were very light.

A total of 70,152 copies of the Ford 300 were made.
