The Peugeot type 16 is a vis-à-vis car designed in 1897 by Armand Peugeot , founder of the brand in 1896 until 1900 .

History 

The Peugeot Type 16 is an early car model of the French car manufacturer Peugeot , of which were built from 1897-1900 at the plant Audincourt 87 copies were produced in 1897 , Armand Peugeot successfully sold 54 cars, 156 in 1898 and 500 in 1900 . He built two new factories in Audincourt near Sochaux and Lille . On April 2, 1896 , Armand Peugeot separated from the family activities of Peugeot Brothers of his brother Eugene Peugeot and founded the new car company Peugeot .

The vehicles had a two - cylinder four-stroke engine of its own production, which was arranged lying in the rear and driven by chain the rear wheels. The engine made between 5 and 8 hp .With a wheelbase of 155 cm and a track width of 131 cm at the front and 128 cm at the rear, the vehicle length was 245 cm and the vehicle height 145 cm. The body shape Vis-à-vis offered space for four people. In the version with roof, the dimensions vary slightly.
