The Peugeot Oxia is a prototype concept car of from Peugeot automobiles in 1988.

History

The Peugeot Oxia takes its name from a region of the planet Mars called "OXIA PALUS", longitude 0, latitude 0, possible starting point for calculating Martian time.

The car is a Prototype of a “Grand Touring High Performance” two-seater coupe fitted with butterfly doors, but it claims performance of that from a race car with a body made from carbon fibre and Kevlar. Equipped with a mid-mounted 6-cylinder 24-valve engine, Oxia develops a power of 680 hp at 8,200 rpm and a  0-60 mph performance in less than five seconds, operated by four-wheel drive and steering with front and rear limited-slip differentials.

Designed to meet driving requirements and changes in communication, the passenger compartment promotes the circulation of air and sound. With electrically-adjustable seats and the Oxia has a central communication unit coupled to a radio telephone comprising a compatible PC and peripheral equipment, below the large windscreen holds clever solar cells to keep the power even when the engines not turned on.

The computer allows both air conditioning management, access to travel-related databases and navigation assistance. A high fidelity package completes the equipment.
