The Honda Shuttle was a estate to carry more people (option for extra row of seats) marketed as a minivan in Europe. Originally it was based on the Honda Civic , which first came in 1983 as a Honda Civic Shuttle on the market. With the introduction of the 5th Generation, the export of the Honda Civic Shuttle to Europe and only in 1995 with the now Honda Shuttle, the segment was served in Europe again by Honda. In 2000 This was replaced by the Honda Stream .
The shuttle was larger than its predecessor Civic Shuttle. The model was a Honda Odyssey 1, which was manufactured on the basis of the Honda Accord and offered worldwide. Unlike the Odyssey, the shuttle was only available with a 2.2 liter 150 hp petrol engine (later vintages: 2.3 Liters) in conjunction with a 4-speed automatic transmission .
The model was available in the trim levels ES and LS. Optionally, all-wheel drive was available. While the sister model was very successful in Asia , success in the rest of the world remained modest. In Europe, manual transmissions and, above all, diesel engines were missing, In the US, the Odyssey1 (shuttle) for the local van market was too small, whereupon Honda 1999 brought the Honda Odyssey (North America) on the market. While also in 1999 an evolved Odyssey1 (Shuttle) started in Asia and Oceania , the shuttle was further built until 2000, since Honda produced the model anyway for Isuzu as Isuzu Oasis . The successor of the shuttle was introduced in 2001 Honda Stream , which in turn was developed based on the Honda Civic.
