Honda Acty First Generation series of light Commercial vans was built from 1977 to 1988.
History
Honda Acty is the name of a series of vans of the Japanese automaker Honda , which are intended primarily for the domestic market. They are classified in Japan as a kei-car , that is as low-gross weight cars with a small displacement . The equipment of the Honda Acty is rather Spartan, the possible body variants but versatile as a pickup truck in Japan called pick-up, van and minibus .
Because of the newly defined by the Japanese government technical framework for the Kei-Cars was a successor to the built since 1967 Honda TN 360 with its air-cooled engine overdue.
It appeared in 1977, the Acty with water-cooled engine. The concept of the horizontal mid-engine in front of the rear axle was adopted by the Honda TN 360. The newly developed two-cylinder engine was now 545 cc and provided 21 kW (28 hp). In 1979, the range was supplemented by the bus and later by a closed van, which was also available with high roof. From 1981, there was the Honda Street , a luxurious equipped Acty minivan / minibus. From 1982, the Acty could be ordered with automatic transmission and from 1983 he was offered on request with all-wheel drive .
The Honda Street, an upper trim level of the Acty van designed primarily for passenger use, went on sale on February 1, 1981, and was produced for two generations of the Acty van. The high roof was also made available for the Acty van, which was offered in a standard or all-new design (SDX only). After the Honda Vamos name was resurrected as a substitute trim level for the Street, on a shared base with the Acty van, the moniker was dropped in 2001. The four-wheel-drive Acty/Street was added in March 1983. This model gets 12-inch wheels for better ground clearance and a cylinder head upgrade that boosts power to 29 PS (21.3 kW; 28.6 hp) at 5300 rpm and torque to 4.5 kgm (44 Nm; 33 lbft) at 3500 rpm.
