Mercedes-Benz M 129 petrol engine

Mercedes Benz
Mercedes-Benz M 129 petrol engine
M 129
Manufacturer: Daimler Benz
Production period: 1965-1968
Style: Six-cylinder - inline engine
Combustion principle: gasoline engine
Previous model: Mercedes-Benz M127
Successor: Mercedes-Benz M 130

The Mercedes-Benz M 129 was a 1965 to 1969 of Daimler-Benz -made six-cylinder - inline engine with intake manifold injection and 2.5 liters displacement . It was the injection version of the simultaneously produced carburettor engine M 108 .

With intake manifold injection and the increased compression ratio (increase from 9: 1 to 9.3: 1 or 9.5: 1 from 1966) this achieved a significant increase in performance compared to the carburetor model. Otherwise, the unit remained essentially unchanged.

Technical data

  • Six - cylinder inline engine ; Engine block from cast iron ; Cylinder head made of aluminum alloy
  • Crankshaft with seven main bearings
  • OHC valve control : a camshaft in the cylinder head; two valves per cylinder
  • Intake manifold injection via mechanical Bosch 6-piston injection pump with map control
  • Bore x stroke : 82 mm × 78.8 mm
  • Displacement : 2496 cc
  • Compression ratio : 9.3: 1 (9.5: 1 of 1966);
  • Performance: 150 hp at 5500 rpm
  • Torque: 216 Nm at 4200 rpm

Use

  • Mercedes-Benz W111 250SE Coupe / Cabriolet (1965-67).
  • Mercedes-Benz 250SE W108 (1965-68).
  • Mercedes-Benz 250 SL "Pagoda SL" (1966-68).
