The Nissan Cube is a minivan that Nissan has been manufacturing exclusively for the Japanese market since 1998 in its first two generations . The third generation was offered for the first time outside of Japan. In spring 2009, the cube was introduced in the US and Canada and later in Europe.

The third generation of the Cube (referred to as Z12 ) was first shown at the LA Auto Show on November 19, 2008. This generation was first offered outside of Japan.

The redesigned Nissan Cube shows a more rounded styling than its predecessors. This development is most likely to be seen in the rear area, an asymmetric rear window that runs around the C-pillar on the passenger side, and the oval side windows on the driver's and front passenger's side.

The number of seats remains at five. According to the Nissan designers, the interior of the vehicle is inspired by the curves of a Jacuzzi tub, providing a comfortable social atmosphere. As a styling detail shows z. As a wave motif on the headliner, which is repeated even on smaller parts, such as the speaker covers or the cup holders. Nissan offers a large amount of accessories for the Cube, to encourage the customers to an individualization. This includes colored vents, electric windows and jack hooks, as well as elastic bands in different colors, lighting for foot wells and cup holders, and a piece of fringed carpet for the flat trough on top of the dashboard.

The third-generation cube, in turn, is built on the Nissan B front-wheel-drive platform, powered by a 1.8-l R4 engine rated at 90 kW; both constructions are also used in the Tiida Versa . The cars are equipped with a manual six-speed gearbox or a CVT transmission. The gas mileage will probably be less than 7.7 liters per 100 km.

Nissan provided a brochure about the car for the visitors to the 2008 LA Auto Show using advanced reality technology . Holding this brochure on a webcam , various 3D models of the vehicle appear there in real-time interaction with the brochure.

In 2010, a 1.6 MT KAADO four-cylinder petrol engine with a 1598 cc and 81 kW (110 hp) was added. The consumption is expected to be 6.6 liters per 100 kilometers, thus 151 g / km CO₂.

At the beginning of 2011, the cube was removed from the European Nissan model range, as sales figures remained well below expectations until recently.  In Japan, however, built the vehicle up to the present.
