Opel Blitz from 1952 to 1960 was the first post-war designed Blitz truck in that first appeared in 1952.

History

This much more modern designed cab. The design was inspired by the then trendy American pickups Chevrolet Advance Design cab. The redesigned Opel Blitz was available as a box and flatbed type.

The new model was now designed for a payload of initially 1.75 tons (later 2 tons), but was technically almost unchanged on the predecessor, the drive was still made exclusively by gasoline engines with six cylinders. Due to its roundish design, the car was popularly called Weichblitz . Although the competition already strengthened significantly - especially Daimler-Benz took the Opel with the 1955 Mercedes-Benz L 319 numerous customers from - remained the Opel Blitz during the 1950s still market leader in light trucks. Frequent applications were also LF-8 vehicles for small fire departments Firetruck conversions were made by companies such as Ziegler, Metz and Rosenbauer.. equipped with an engine driven pump mounted at the front bumper and a second, portable pump in the back of the truck. The portable pump was powered by a 34 hp Volkswagen engine and weighed about 400 lbs.

Under contract, Kässbohrer Fahrzeugwerke built the superstructures for lightning "panorama buses" on Opel chassis, which provided space for 17 people. Between 1953 and 1956, Kässbohrer manufactured 67 bus bodies. The six-cylinder inline engine had 58 hp and a displacement of 2,473 cc. The top speed was 95 km / h.
