The Renault Kadjar is a Compact SUV introduced in February 2015 and marketed since June 2015. It uses the CMF modular platform, developed by Renault-Nissan and used in particular by the Nissan Qashqai .
History
It is assembled in Palencia , Spain for commercialization in Europe , most Mediterranean countries and Africa . Since 2016, it is also produced in China .Kadjar competes with its cousins Nissan Qashqai and Dacia Duster II , but also the Peugeot 3008 and Citroen C5 Aircross .
In 2018 , the Kadjar is restyled the grille receives chromed bars, new shields with metal inserts in the shape of "C" including the fog lights and behind the tailpipes more fictitious outlets while the two-color lights incorporate functions of turn signals, reversing lights and LED fog lights. It also heals its engines to earn a few grams of CO 2and lower your consumption as much as possible. Phase 2 of Kadjar is led by the team of Laurens Van Den Acker.
Updates
Outside :
- The exterior styling has been improved, with an enlarged front, chrome inserts, body-color painted surfaces, and new 17- and 19-inch wheels.
- Three new colors are available: "Ural Green", "Iron Blue" and "Highland Gray".
- The new C-shaped Renault light signature has been added to the LED lights. The fog lights are also LED and become rectangular. The rear turn signals switch to LED also, and the rear lights and rear fog lights are "built into the shield".
Inside :
- A new 7-inch touch screen has been installed on the center console. Renault promises "better brightness and improved sensitivity". It integrates the multimedia system R-Link 2.
- The overall quality has been improved, with chrome inserts on "aerator contours, door handles and center console".
- The window and mirror controls on the doors are now backlit.
- New upholstery is available, with even Alcantara for the Black Edition finish, which comes to "style the range".
- The air conditioning controls have been worked to win "in modernity and ergonomics". There are now three rotary knobs that now incorporate a temperature and digital ventilation display.
- The seat length of the seats can now be adjusted. The seats are lined with "double-density foam to eliminate tiredness on long journeys", and have side reinforcements for "better support".
- Aerators have been integrated at the rear, "on the back of the central console".
- Renault announces a trunk volume of 527 liters, which can be increased to 1,478 liters by folding the rear seat which will have Easy Break handles. The front passenger seat can also be folded down.
- The cupholders at the front have been enlarged, and the storage compartment in front of the shifter is illuminated.
- The R-Link system will work with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. USB outlets have also been added to the back.
Two special finishes will be marketed. The Wave, based on the Life finish, will have "a specific upholstery with blue stitching", the 7-inch touch pad, the bi-zone regulated air conditioning, as well as a front grille and a rear bumper with chrome inserts, "the chrome rush of its lower door protectors, "18" diamond wheels, roof bars and the shark antenna. The other more premium finish is the Black Edition. It will have an Alcantara upholstery, a black flag roof, 19-inch alloy wheels, "front and rear skis" and black mirrors.
As a reminder, the Kadjar takes the bases of the SUV and integrates the category of compact SUV to counter including the Peugeot 3008, Nissan Qashqai or Volkswagen Tiguan. In this segment, we also find the new BMW X1 and Hyundai Tucson. To find a place, Renault can count on the experience of its firm cousin Nissan. Kadjar relies precisely on the platform of Qashqai . At the level of the look, we find an assertive character, round, wide wings and a bulging hood that is gradually becoming the brand of Renault (the Talisman sedan also takes this code). His overall style remains rather consensual for a larger compact SUV than most of his rivals. It thus displays 4.45 meters long, more than the Scenic (4.34m) or the new Megane 4 (4.30m). It is especially longer than its rivals, the Peugeot 3008 and its 4.36 meters, the Nissan Qashqai (4.38m) or the Volkswagen Tiguan (4.42m). In height however, it is positioned in the average of the category with 1.60m high .
