The Renault Trafic I is a light utility van manufactured by Renault from 1980 to 2000. It was later restyled in 1989 and 1994. Trafic replaces the previous Estafette model . 

Trafic modernized the light utility concept by offering traction (T) or propulsion (P) versions from March 1981 (traction is used to lower the height of the loading floor and propulsion provides better traction when the vehicle is in motion). is loaded) available in multiple variants ( sheet , glazed , raised, extended, tarpaulin or motorized) offering payloads ranging from 800 to 1400  kg (ie GVWs ranging from 2.1 tonnes to 3 tonnes). from the Renault 18 and 20 to gasoline or diesel , the latter engine missing from its Estafette predecessor. On the other hand, the rear axle is now rigid.During its long commercialization, it undergoes two restyles  (front face and dashboard ) and was the subject of many technical modifications (engines, mechanical elements, comfort and safety equipment).

For 1985, the new 4x4 version receives a four-wheel drive drivetrain.

Phase I Traffic was launched in September 1980.
Phase II (1989 - 1994)
Phase III (1994 - 2000)

1994  : An agreement is signed with the Chinese manufacturer Sanjiang to build this model that will last 9 years,Early 1997  : part of the production is bought by GM . Traffic becomes Opel Arena or Vauxhall Arena. In Brazil , it's called Chevrolet Space Van.The different versions,Bus from 1980 to 2001.Platform / Chassis version from 1980 to 2001 and Van version from 1980 to 2001
