The Toyota 1C engine family was a series of inline-4 diesel engines. The 1C, 1C-L, 1C-LC made  from 1979 to 1992.

The Toyota C engine family was a series of inline-4 diesel engines. There were two earlier generations of an engine Toyota named as the "Type C". The first generation was introduced in 1940 as a modification of the Type A engine. Japanese market vehicles with diesel engines were exclusive to Toyota Japan dealerships called Toyota Diesel Store locations from 1979 until the dealership was cancelled in 1988. The 1C range as the 1C, 1C-L, 1C-LC this came with Bosch VE electronic fuel injection a trochoid pump, with full flow filter. The 1C-TL range was also Turbocharged.

  • 1C (longitudinally mounted):64 hp (48 kW) at 4700 rpm, and torque 86 lb·ft (117 N·m) at 2700 rpm
  • 1C-L (transversely mounted):64 hp (48 kW) at 4700 rpm, and torque 87 lb·ft (118 N·m) at 2600 rpm

PERFORMANCE

  • max power (JIS): 65 hp (48 kW) at 4,500 rpm
  • max torque (JIS): 83 1b ft, 11.5 kg m (113 Nm) at 3,000 rpm
  • max engine rpm: 4,80035.3 hp/l (26 kW/l)
  • power-weight ratio: DX 31.2 lb/hp (42.4 lb/kW), 14.1 kg/hp (19.2 kg/kW)
  • consumption: 88.3 m/imp gal, 73.5 m/US gal3.2 L x 100 km at 37 mph, 60 km/h on Japanese emission test cycle.

1C-TL, 1C-TLC

The 1C-TL, 1C-TLC Are the Turbocharged version of the engines.

Applications: CV10 Camry 1983-1985 (Japan, Europe, US only) and CV10 Vista 1983-1985 (for Japan only)

PERFORMANCE

  • max power (JIS): 80 hp (59 kW) at 4,500 rpm
  • max torque (JIS): 112 1b ft 15.5 kg m (152 Nm) at 2,400 rpm
  • max engine rpm: 5,000; 43.5 hp/l (32 kW/l)
  • power-weight ratio: Vista Turbo Diesel VL Sedan 29.4 lb/hp (39.9 lb/kW), 13.3 kg/hp (18.1 kg/kW)
  • consumption: 88.2 m/imp gal, 73.5 m/US gal, 3.2 1 x 100 km at 37 mph, 60 km/h on Japanese emission test cycle.
