Birch Motor Cars

Birch Motor Cars was an American manufacturer of automobiles from the 1910s to 1920s. 

History

The company was founded in 1916 as a division of Birch Motor College . The seat was in Chicago in Illinois . 1916 began the production of automobiles. The brand name was Birch . Special feature was the sale by post. The assembly of the vehicles took over mostly other car manufacturers such as Crow-Elkhart and Seneca Motor Company . 1923 ended production.

Many parts were purchased. These included the engines that came from Beaver Manufacturing Company , Herschell-Spillman , LeRoi Company , Lycoming and Supreme Motors Corporation .

In 1916, there was only the Four . He had a four-cylinder engine . He was stated with 19.6 hp . The wheelbase was 290 cm. The only Model 32 was a touring car .

In 1917, the Model 28 model complemented the range as a roadster .

In 1918, both were called Model 35 . In the year came with the Six as Model 45 a model with a six-cylinder engine  was stated with 21.6 HP. The chassis had 295 cm wheelbase. The only body shape was a touring car.

In 1919, the names changed because the names Four and Six accounted for. The Model 30 was a new, small model with 274 cm wheelbase. Its four-cylinder engine was rated at 14.4 hp. He was only available as a touring car. The Model 36 was the successor to the Four Model 35 . The engine remained unchanged, but the wheelbase was extended to 292 cm. The choice was Chummy Roadster and Touring Cars. The Model 45 engine corresponded to the previous Six Model 45 , but with 292 cm wheelbase.

In 1920, the method of calculating the PS changed. The Model 30 was now indicated with 30 hp. The Model 40 with 40 hp engine replaced the Model 36 , in addition, the wheelbase was extended to 297 cm. Top model was the model 6-45 , in the name of the six-cylinder engine and the 45 hp engine performance find again. The wheelbase remained at 292 cm. All three models were touring cars.

From 1921 to 1922 there were only two models. They had the same wheelbase of 297 cm. The Model 44 had a four-cylinder engine with 37 hp, while the Model 66 had a six-cylinder engine with 57 hp. Both were available as a five-seat touring car, three-seater roadster, four-seater sports and seven-seater sedan .

In 1923 the assortment consisted of two models. But they had little in common with the previous year's models. Both had four-cylinder engines. The model 23-45 was the weaker, but with 290 cm wheelbase, the longer model with 28 hp. The choice was a five-seat touring car, three-seater roadster, four-seater sports and seven-seater sedan. The Model 305 made 39 hp and had a wheelbase of 274 cm. Five-seater touring car and two-seater roadster are mentioned.
