History
The Comet Cyclecar Company was founded in 1914 in Indianapolis , Indiana . The company owners were the brothers EH and St. Clair Parry . The company was called Economic Cyclecar Company , but when the founders discovered that there was already a company of that name on the east coast of the United States, they quickly decided to use the name Comet. In the same year, the company produced more than 25 vehicles. The brand name was Comet .
The model was of cyclecar type.The Model A, as a two-passenger tandem body for $400, while a delivery car, styled Model B,
lists at $450.
The Model A was a two seat tandem design. An air-cooled V2 four-cycle engine from the Spacke Machine & Tool Company with 88.9 mm bore , 93.2 mm stroke , and 1156 cc engine capacity which gave 9hp. The crank shaft has two sets of flywheels mounted on it, inside and outside A two-blade, ball bearing fan, assists in cooling. The cars had 100-inch (2540 mm) wheelbase and a track width of 914 mm Braking is accomplished by means of blocks in the rear pulleys. The front springs are transverse; the rear quarter elliptic, cantilever type. The frame is1x3 inch. made of ash wood, with steel reinforcements. The curb weight was given as 318 kg the fuel tank hold 4 1/2 gallons.
At the beginning of 1914, 25 pre-production copies were produced but production still ended later in 1914.
