Huffman Brothers Motor Company

Huffman Brothers Motor Company and later as Elkhart Motor Truck Company ,and  Valley Motor Truck Company , was an American manufacturer of motor vehicles .The brand name was Huffman and Valley.

Huffman Bros. Motor Co. was a small car manufacturing firm based in the town of Elkhart, Indiana, United States from 1919–1925.

History

In 1918, the Huffman Brothers Motor Company was founded in Elkhart, Indiana. Commercials were first produced in 1918. Passenger automobiles were first introduced in September 1920. WL Huffman was president in 1923. The name was changed to Valley Motor Truck Company in June 1926. Valley was a brand name that was used on occasion. Elkhart Motor Truck Company was renamed in 1929.

Three different body Styles, with Continental engine. Covert transmission, Borg & Beck clutch, Thermoid-Hardy universal joints. Salisbury axles$1,795: roadster, Touring $1,795. and sedan $2,675.

All cars had a six-cylinder engine . 1920 there was the Model R . The engine made 55 hp . The chassis had 305 cm wheelbase . The only structure was a touring carwith five seats.From 1921 to 1922 followed the Model 7-R . .Between 1923 and 1924, the model K was in the range. The body offer had been greatly expanded. In addition to the well-known five-seat touring car, a two-seater roadster , a sporty five-seater touring car and a seven-seater sedan were now also available.In 1925, the model L appeared . The engine power had been reduced to 50 hp and the wheelbase was reduced to 292 cm. Narrated are Phaeton with five seats, Sports Roadster with two seats, semi sedan with four seats, business coupe with three seats and a Artcraft sedan with five seats.

The company's first success was with the 'Huffman Truck' which was introduced on July 31, 1919.

The trucks had payloads between 1.5 and 4 tonnes. Carrying capacity, 2000 to 5500 lbs., including body weight.MOTOR—Mode1 4-cyl. Continental Red Seal. 4-cyl. Buda.ignition—Dixie Magneto.CARBURETOR—Zenith.CLUTCH—Fu11er, dry disc type. TRANSMISSIOS—Fuller. Unit power PlantType.
STEERING GEAR—Lavine.FRAME— Pressed-Steel Channel.FRONT AXEL -Drop forged with Timken bearings.REAR AXE Torbensen internal.SPRINGS—Special Design.WHEELBASE— 140 inches.LOADING SPACE— 10 1/2 ft

1925 ended the car production. A total of 690 cars. Truck production up to around 1931 when the company was dissolved.
