The General Electric Company, or GE, is one of the world's largest conglomerates. The company was founded nearly 80 years ago in Schenectady, New York, and relocated to Fairfield, Connecticut in 1974. Several automobiles were produced by the business in its early years. They were created with the intention of being used as a tests for electric, gas and steam cars.

History

Between 1894 and 1898 vehicles were produced at a plant in Lynn, Massachusetts. The first vehicle was an electric car, whose electric motor made 3 hp. This was followed by several cars with single - cylinder gasoline engines and 1897 another electric car. The designer of these vehicles was Elihu Thomson. In addition, electric cars are named after patents of Hermann Lemp.

Between 1902 and 1903, the company again produced vehicles at a plant in Schenectady, New York State. They were hybrid electric vehicles. They had a four-cylinder engine and two electric motors, each of which powered one of the rear wheels. Both Lemp and the Grant-Ferris Company were involved in this project. There were also experiments with steam cars.
