Harry S. Houpt Manufacturing Company was an early American manufacturer of automobiles. The brand name was Houpt, and later from 1910 Houpt-Rockwell.
History
Harry S. Houpt founded the company in August 1909 in New York City. The cars, however, were built in in New Britain in Connecticut. There started with the production of automobiles. In April 1910, the takeover by the New Departure Manufacturing Company followed. This company manufactured largely identical vehicles during the year 1910 under the brand name Houpt-Rockwell.
The cars were Touring Cars, Toy Tonneau, Runabout, Sedan and Landaulet this included two models. The Four had a four-cylinder engine with 139.7 mm bore, 152.4 mm stroke, 9344 cc displacement and 60 hp power. The chassis had 323 cm wheelbase top speed of 60 mph,the price was $5000.
The Six had a six-cylinder engine with the same cylinder dimensions. With 90 hp from 14,015 cm displacement. The wheelbase was 356 cm. The body offer corresponded to the smaller model price was $6000.
