History

The sale of the Vectra C started in April 2002, first with the notchback sedan, while the hatchback version was introduced in September 2002 as a sporty GTS with standard lowered body. The caravan was presented at the IAA and was available from October 2003 at the dealer. This has a longer wheelbase than the sedan. The Vectra C is longer than its predecessor. It also played a role that the Opel Omega was discontinued in June 2003, as Opel wanted to compete with the Vectra in the more upper middle class . With the epsilon-platform vehicle with the crosslinking was carried out at Opel CAN bus introduced, also in the Opel Astra H was used.

Further innovations were the electrohydraulic power steering , which replaced the previously used purely hydraulic power steering, as well as the optionally available active chassis IDS + with electronic damper adjustment CDC (Continuous Damping Control) from summer 2004 .Like its predecessors, the Vectra C was also sold with notchback, hatchback and as a station wagon ( caravan ).

Opel Vauxhall Vectra C

After a first minor revision in March 2004, the Vectra C was subjected to a comprehensive facelift in June 2005 , which was externally visible on a revised front with striking headlights similar to the Astra H. In addition, the front apron and the grille has been redesigned. Inside, higher-grade plastics were used. The diesel engines received standard maintenance-free particle filters . The 3.2-liter V6 gasoline engine accounted for, instead came in two versions of GM known 2.8-liter V6 with turbocharger used.

The sports version of the Vectra,OPC and using the VXR name in the United Kingdom for Vauxhall. These high performance variants were only available as hatchbacks and estate.

From June 24, 2005, the OPC Line package with front spoiler lip, rear apron lip, side skirts and rear spoiler (sedan) or roof spoiler (estate) was offered. As of 12 October 2005, included additional dark-tinted front and rear lights.  From 30 November 2005 included, in addition to the sedan two visible, chromed exhaust tailpipes (for 2.2 DIRECT, 2.0 Turbo, 2.8 V6 Turbo and 3.0 V6 CDTI) or a visible, chromed tailpipe (for 1.6, 1.8 and 1.9 CDTI ). At the same time it was renamed OPC Line package . As of March 1, 2006, the OPC Line Package 2 was also offered. In addition to the complete range of equipment of the OPC Line package, it also included bumpers in the OPC design, OPC leather steering wheel and OPC gear knob (only for 6-speed manual gearboxes). It was not available for 1.6 and 2.8 V6 Turbo. From October 16, 2006, the previous OPC Line package wore the designation OPC Line Package 1 with the same equipment .

As of June 22, 2007, the sports package replaced the previous OPC Line Package 1 and OPC Line Package 2 . The sports package had the complete equipment of the OPC Line Package 2 . In addition, it included 7½ J x 18 light-alloy wheels in Y-spoke design with 225/45 R18 tires, sports suspension (body 20 mm lowered) and sports seats (fabric / leather). Instead of sports seats (fabric / leather), the sports package could also be ordered with Recaro sports seats.

In Argentina , Brazil and Uruguay General Motors offers the notchback and hatchback versions of the Vectra C, in Chile and Mexico the Vectra C as Chevrolet Vectra .

From 2006 to 2009, under the Saturn product name of GM, the Saturn Aura was manufactured on the same platform , also using components of the European Vectra model. Subsequently, the export of the model started to Egypt, where it is now offered as Opel Vectra. General Motors Egypt is responsible for sales there .

The 1.9-liter diesel engines are from Fiat and have been further developed in collaboration with Opel by the specially-founded Fiat Opel Powertrain. The 2.0-liter turbo gasoline engine is an engine that SAAB and Opel cooperated on. The V6 diesel comes in both stages of Isuzu.

    • The CDTI lettering of the 1.9- (110 kW) and 3.0 (135 kW) diesels are distinguished from the other diesel engines by the two red-colored "TI" letters.

The lettering of the Vectra C GTS with turbocharged gasoline engine was provided with a yellow T.
