The Cadillac DTS is the Cadillac top of the range model produced by General Motors between fall 2005 and mid-2011 (excluding Europe). This is the successor to the Cadillac Deville, which has a trim line called Deville Touring Sedan. The DTS used GM's G-platform chassis.
History
The DTS was formally shown for the first time at the Chicago Auto Show 2005. There is also a long wheelbase version, the DTS-L, built in the 2007 and 2008 model years by Accubuilt Industries / DaBryan Coach Builders. In May 2011, the last Cadillac DTS at GM's Detroit-Hamtramck was produced.
The DTS is powered by a 4.6-liter V8 petrol engine with automatic transmission and 205 kW (275 hp) or 217 kW (290 hp). A special feature in this class is the front-wheel drive. The power flow to the front wheels is ensured by automatic transmissions.
The 2005 model featured 17 or 18-inch alloy wheels, an electronically controlled suspension, traction control, a stability program and increased brakes with Brake Assist. Cadillac equipped the DTS air-conditioned front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, a climate control, rain sensor, heated windscreen washer fluid tank, parking assistance, electrically adjustable wing mirrors, a cruise control system, an audio Bose system, with a CD changer, a DVD navigation system as well as front, Side and window airbags off.
The DTS was available as a coach chassis for aftermarket body conversion. The limousines of the American President (unofficially: " Cadillac One ") are officially considered modified DTS specially designed and armoured vehicle. But they are apparently built on truck chassis and extremely protected individual pieces.
The used by George W. Bush from 2001 is a modified Cadillac STS, the end of 2004 visually changed into a DTS. The new and larger for Barack Obama is based on the chassis of a GMC Topkick mid-range truck. He was first deployed at Obama's inauguration in January 2009.
