History
After the expiration of the U 14 there was the traditional name Bluebird in Japan only on the Nissan Bluebird Sylphy , whose first generation but a class was located under the last Bluebird; the second generation is comparable in size to the U 14.In January 1996, Nissan introduced the final U14 Bluebird, which had boxy appearance. With new L-series chassis codes, the American Altima evolved into an entirely unique line of automobiles. The Bluebird was marketed mainly at purchasers who preferred the formality of larger Japanese sedans in its home market of Japan, which was also the sole market where it was offered new. The U14 kept its width under 1,700 mm (66.9 in) to fit into a reduced tax bracket under Japanese law.
The regular LeGrand, luxury Eprise, sports-oriented SSS, and a limited-run SSS-Z model are all available. The SSS-Z model came with the SR20VE engine with variable valve lift and silver interior trim instead of the wood trim found in the Legrand, Eprise, and SSS models.
