In May 1972, the second Hilux (type RN20) appeared. A more comfortable interior together with a modified body were the most important changes. Both the short and long versions have now been offered in North America.

The Hilux was radically revised in early 1975 to become bigger and more luxurious. At the same time, the much larger 2.2L 20R engine was introduced in North America. A five-speed manual transmission was now offered as an option. In North America, the Hilux has now become an A-series truck. A year later he was "Truck of the Year" in the USA.

The Toyota Hi-Lux pickup With the tailgate down, it has 50 cubic feet of loading space and can carry a 22.83cwt payload. Even when fully laden its 1587cc engine provides all the power you need. And it provides it economically on 2-star petrol- To keep you and your goods safe and sound, we've fitted the Hi-Lux with a host of safety features. Including a servo-assisted braking with tandem master cylinder; a cargo guard, two-speed wipers, electric washers
and a box section ladder type chassis. So it is immensely strong.
